When thinking of camping grilling ideas, it is important to remember that you need a portable grill. Consider the size of grill that will fit best in your vehicle and how many people you will be cooking for.
Charcoal is lighter than propane to pack for camping trips, but both work well. With RV camping, an electric grill, tabletop gas grill or your DIY grill are both possible, but everywhere will not have plug-ins available. It is important that you research the area you will be camping in beforehand to ensure they don’t have any grill restrictions due to fire dangers.
Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Burgers

These decadent burgers should be at the top of your camping grilling ideas list. Stuffing the inside of your burgers is a fun way to put a personal twist on classic burgers. This is an easy way to make food for many people while spicing up regular hamburgers with only a few extra ingredients. Great meal while watching Super Bowl too.
- 1¼ lbs. ground beef (at least 80% lean)
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of pepper
- 4 oz. cubed cheddar cheese
- 4 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
STEP 1 – Season the beef with salt and pepper. Form 8-12 patties to make 4 large or 6 small stuffed burgers. Use your thumb to place an indent on half the patties.
STEP 2 – Place the cheddar cheese and bacon in the indent, then top this with another patty and press the edges to seal the bacon and cheese in. Place the patties on a hot grill for about 5 minutes on each side, depending on the desired doneness.
STEP 3 – Once removed from the grill, place on buns and serve with your favorite sides.
Smoky Spiced Popcorn

This simple recipe will become a family favorite. It is the perfect snack to end any night while camping.
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
- Good pinch of salt & pepper
- ⅔ cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tablespoons olive oil or coconut oil
STEP 1 – Prepare the seasoningat home by adding all the ingredients into a sealed container or plastic bag to save space in your bags.
STEP 2 – Use a grill-safe pot big enough for the kernels to lay in a single layer, and heat 2 tablespoons of the oil and all the popcorn kernels over a medium-hot temperature. Cover the pot with a lid for the kernels to pop.
STEP 3 – Once you hear the kernels popping, gently shake the pot and move it continuously until the popping slows.
STEP 4 – Remove the pot from the grill and drizzle the remaining oil, then toss to coat the popcorn with the seasoning mix. Enjoy making and eating this snack with your family after a long hike.
Apple Crisp Foil Packs

This classic dessert can easily be made at any campsite grill or in the resort. This delicious recipe makes it easy to do most of the prep work at home so you can enjoy camping during the summer, fall, spring and even during winter.
- 6 granny smith apples thinly sliced
- ¼ cup light brown sugar packed
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Crumb topping ingredients:
- 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1½ cup quick oats
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup melted butter
STEP 1 – Cut 12 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil, so you have 2 pieces of foil for each packet.
STEP 1 – Combine all the crumb topping ingredients and mix, seal in a bag or container for later use.
STEP 2 – In a large mixing bowl, mix the cornstarch, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Add the apples and stir until they are all coated well, and seal in a bag or container.
STEP 3 – Once you are ready to cook the dessert, divide the apple mixture evenly between each foil packet. Add about 1 cup of the crumb topping over the apples, then seal the packets closed.
STEP 4 – Grill the packets directly on the grates for 12-15 minutes or until apples are tender and the crumb topping is golden brown. Open the packets carefully and serve while it’s warm.
Grilled Fish Tacos With Spicy Corn Salsa

If your camping trip involves fishing, you’ll want to include some fresh fish recipes in your camping grilling ideas—the addition of the spicy corn salsa pairs well with these fresh fish tacos. This meal can also is so delicious that you can also have this when you have bbq party during holidays like 4th of July and Labor day.
To prepare the fish:
- 2 fillets of white fish
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ a lime
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
- Packet soft tortilla shells
Making the Spicy Corn Salsa:
- 2 ears of fresh corn on the cob
- ½ a lime
- 1 jalapeno
- ½ small red onion
STEP 1 – Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. While waiting for it to heat, squeeze half the lime over your fish fillets, then rub on the olive oil. Dust both sides with the salt, cumin, and chili powder, then set aside to marinate for a few minutes.
STEP 2 – Put the corn and jalapeno on the grill for about 10 minutes until they are tender. Remove and set aside to cool slightly.
STEP 3 – To prevent sticking to the grates, place your fish in a wire grill basket or on aluminum foil. Cook for about 3 minutes before flipping and cooking for another 2 minutes. Remove and let the fish cool for a minute before slicing and assembling the tacos.
STEP 4 – While the fish is cooking, prepare the salsa. Cut the corn off the cob and chop the jalapeno into small pieces. If you prefer milder flavors, remove the seeds. Finely chop the onion and cilantro, mix everything in a bowl, adding lime juice and salt to taste.
STEP 5 – Finally, build your tacos with soft tortilla shells, fish, and the corn salsa. Avocado and Cotija cheese make great toppings for these tacos.
Easy Grilled S’mores
- 4 graham crackers, broken into halves
- 2 milk chocolate candy bars divided in half
- 4 marshmallows
- Preheat the grill to a medium temperature.
STEP 1 – Every s’more will have a graham cracker for a base topped with one chocolate candy bar piece, a marshmallow, and another graham cracker. Center the s’more on a sheet of aluminum foil and seal it.
STEP 2 – Place on the covered grill for 4-5 minutes. Gently remove the foil and enjoy.
STEP 3 – For a fun twist on this treat, try different chocolate bars. Snickers or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in place of the chocolate bars adds exciting flavors to a classic s’more.
