Nexgrill

If you’re looking for a no frills, reliable grill that you won’t have to spend a ton of money on, and that you can get at any of your local big box retailers, Nexgrill is a good option for you.

Nexgrill is a great basic line of grills that offer a variety of options in a reasonable package, for an affordable price. They aren’t particularly fancy, but they do the job of cooking well, and can stand up to the elements.

Nexgrill is a smaller company, based in Chino, California. While the company’s headquarters are US based, you’ll find that most of their grills are manufactured in China, which for some consumers is a deal breaker.

They are considered a middle of the road option for backyard

grill masters. With Nexgrill you won’t get the innovation or comfort extras that you’ll find on higher end grills, but they have plenty of great features that you won’t find in bargain grills.

Nexgrills are made from 430 gauge stainless steel, which is fine for most backyard applications, but be aware that it isn’t as durable as some other grill cabinets on the market.

We do really like the design of the Nexgrill line. While they aren’t the most expensive grills on the market, they are attractive, and have plenty of comfort features that make them stand above some of the other grill brands on the market.

We will note that while Nexgrills are a good product, they do have a few small issues that we should point out. Like other grills on the high affordability scale, Nexgrill can be less than great when it comes to customer service.

They do have a user-friendly website that has manuals and parts list, but if you need to order parts, be aware that they can be slow on arrival. This isn’t great if you need a critical part. However, Nexgrill isn’t alone on this, we’ve noted this problem with many of the other mainstream grill brands.

After our testing and Nexgrill reviews, this is our bottom line – They’re good grills. They will do the job for most backyard chefs.

However, they aren’t the highest quality grills on the market, but for the price, they do a good job, cook a good steak and look attractive in your backyard or in your outdoor kitchen.

NEXGRILL Gas Grill Features To Consider

Nexgrill offers a variety of grills with a variety of options. When you are shopping for a new grill, you’ll find that they are affordable and they have good features for making grilling easy.

There are a lot of Nexgrills on the market, so it might be daunting to find the right grill for your backyard culinary needs. We’ve compiled a list of the features that we think you should consider when you are shopping for the right Nexgrill for your needs.

Fuel type

Nexgrill has both gas and charcoal grills. When you are shopping for a grill, you need to know which you’ll use most, and what you think will give you the best food taste.

Gas grills – provide ample ease and convenience. Simply turn on the gas, push a button (or light a match) and you’re ready to cook. They also have very little added taste, so you don’t have to worry about changing the essence of your foods.

Charcoal grills – are not for the faint of heart. This cooker requires some additional work, and some skill, frankly. Before you can cook over charcoal, you need to prepare the coals. This means lighting the briquettes, letting them burn and waiting for the right heat. The result however is well worth the effort. Coals provide an even heat, and a smoky, taste that you just can’t get from a gas grill.

Cooking capacity

You don’t want to have the wrong size grill. Too much space, and you’re wasting gas or charcoal. Too small, and you’ve not got enough room for entertaining. Nexgrills have a range of sizes from the small, table top sized grill to the largest size at 564 square inches.

How do you know which size is right for you? A good rule of thumb is to allow 100 square feet per person. A family of four can easily get by with a 400 square foot grill.

Secondary cooking space

Do you need another place to keep food warm or to cook something more delicate than meat, you’ll want a secondary cooking space. Some Nexgrills have warming racks and smaller cooking spaces that allow you to cook at a different temperature, without needing an additional appliance.

Grates

Nothing is fancy with the grates from Nexgrill. Most Nexgrills come with porcelain-coated cast iron cooking grates. Porcelain-coated cast iron is great for standing up to high heat, and for a non-stick cooking surface. Just keep in mind that, when exposed to moisture, these grates can rust, which decreases the life of the grate.

Burners

All Nexgrill gas grills have burners that are individually controlled, to provide you with the most flexibility in cooking temperature. Almost all Nexgrill gas grills come with at least two burners. This allows you to create ample heat for cooking thick cuts of meat

While at the same time, this flexibility will also allow you to cook meat over one burner, and grill vegetables on the other. We like this feature, especially if you are hoping to make your grill part of your outdoor kitchen.

Infrared grilling

Infrared grilling is a feature that is new to many grill manufacturers. Some Nexgrill gas grills come with an added infrared burner. Infrared grilling keeps meat moist. This also eliminates those grease flare-ups that can make grilling scary for some people.

Ventilation

Ventilation is really important for charcoal grills. Nexgrill charcoal grills, like most other charcoal grills, don’t have a mechanical way to adjust temperature. That’s just the way charcoal grills work.

They do however, have vents and dampers that allow you to change the airflow through your grill. Airflow alters the temperature of the coals, allowing you to make coarse adjustments to temperature.

Wheels

It seems like a silly feature, but if you have to move your grill, even just a few feet, wheels are a big deal. Nexgrill grills come with wheels, or without. So, choose a model that has wheels to make moving it around easier. This is especially handy if you are looking for a larger size grill.

Accessories

Look for cool accessories like spice trays, shelves and even bottle openers that make the experience of cooking outdoors, more enjoyable.

Rotisserie

A few Nexgrill models come with a rotisserie. Rotisseries make cooking large cuts of meat, like briskets, chickens or roasts easier, and allow you to slow cook

Shelves and Storage

Look for grill carts that have a shelf to set plates or containers on and some storage for spices, oils, utensils and other grilling must-haves.

6 Best NEXGRILL Reviews of 2022

1. Nexgrill 4-Burner Propane Gas Grill in Stainless Steel

4-Burner Stainless Steel

Why you’ll love this:

There really is nothing special about this grill. The Nexgrill 4-burner grill is a lot like other grills on the market today. It is a reasonable size, measuring in at 4 feet tall, 4 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It has a total of 626 square inches of cooking space between the main cooking area (462 square inches) and the secondary cooking surface. The cooking surface on this Nexgrill model is capable of cooking 22 hamburgers at one time.

We also like that this grill has plenty of heat power for your cooking needs. The four burners put out a total of 60,000 BTUs, which is greater than some of the larger grills in the Nexgrill line. This grill features the Nexgrill Even-Heat Cooking system which uses steel wrapped cooking grids that distribute heat evenly across the grilling surface.

The angled flame tamers also allow grease to drip away from the flames, eliminating that smoky, burned smell and taste that can come from grease drippings.

Beyond the cooking basics, this grill features a handy, battery operated starter, a built-in thermometer, an enclosed cabinet that will hide your propane tank, and casters that make moving this grill from place to place, a breeze. You will need to purchase the propane tank and cover for this grill separately.

What We Liked

  • This grill gets hot and sears well.
  • It has good flare-up tamers.
  • Easy to move with the wheels.

What We Didn’t Like

  • Thinner steel.
  • Prone to rust.

2. Nexgrill 2 Burner Aluminium Table Top Gas Barbecue

Fortress 2 Burner Cast Aluminum

Why you’ll love this:

Portability is the name of the game for this Nexgrill gas grill. The new, two burner table top grill is perfect for the grill master that wants to take their skills on the go. This tiny, but powerful grill has 347 square inches of cooking space with 13,500 BTUs of heat power.

This grill also features the Nexgrill steel wire cooking grid that provides even heating across the entire cooking surface. While this grill looks small, you can easily cook up to 14 burgers at one time.

The locking lid, and folding legs make this the perfect portable grill for taking camping, to the beach or tailgating. This grill also uses smaller 1-pound propane tanks, so you don’t have to worry about lugging around a full size propane tank.

What We Liked

  • Lightweight but powerful.
  • It easy to get setup and ignited.
  • Foldable legs and locking lid make transporting easy.

What We Didn’t Like

  • The initial assembling of the grill was cumbersome.

3. Nexgrill 5-Burner Propane Gas Grill in Stainless Steel

5-Burner

Why you’ll love it:

This grill is new to the Nexgrill line. The 5 burner gas grill with side burner is a workhorse dressed in an attractive stainless steel cabinet. This grill has 618 square inches of cooking space and a total of 55,000 BTUs of heat power.

This grill has more than enough across all burners to cook a variety of foods. With each burner individually controlled, you can adjust burner heat for cooking everything from roasts and chickens to salmon and scallops.

One of the things we like the best about this new 5-burner grill is the size of the cooking surface. Unlike some of the other large sized grills from Nexgrill, this one actually has plenty of cooking area for the amount of heat that is created from the burners. You don’t have to worry about burning your food on this grill.

A few of the other features that we like about this grill include: a three piece lid that allows you to open only the portion of grill that you need, which keeps heat in the grill; the coated cast iron grates are easy to clean and are relatively non-stick especially if you also have the best grill cleaners on hand; and this grill has a great condiment tray, located on the front of the grill, for easy access.

What we liked

  • Grease pan & warming rack work great.
  • Condiment rack is so handy.
  • No fuss easy-to-clean.

What we didn’t like

  • It needs a longer warranty.
  • Assembly can be tricky.

4. Nexgrill 720-0898 Deluxe 6-Burner Propane Gas Grill

720-0898 Deluxe 6-Burner

Why you’ll love this:

If you just can’t settle for a grill that is “just the right size”, and prescribe to the theory that bigger is better, then you need the 6 burner Nexgrill Deluxe gas grill. This grill is big in every way. Each of the 6 burners puts out 10,000 BTUs of heat, for a total heat power of 60,000 BTUs. There’s not much you can’t cook with this much power.

However, with 6 burners, we would expect a much larger cooking area. This grill only has 582 square inches of cooking space, which just isn’t as big as we’d like for so much heat.

This grill does feature a nice 12,000 BTU side burner that allows you to cook other foods like veggies or fish, without the risk of charring delicate foods. This grill is not too big, so it’s manageable for most people.

One of our main concerns about this grill, is the quality of the materials used. While it is an affordable option, you do get what you pay for. The quality of construction is lacking.

This grill with it’s seven burners, full cabinet, cast iron grates and all the controls should weigh more. This grill only weighs in at around 100 pounds, which to us seems light for a seven burner grill.

Overall, we think this grill is fine for the person that needs a grill with decent cooking space, plenty of heat, and a low price point. If you’re looking for a long lasting grill, you might want to look elsewhere.

What We Liked

  • Good heat control.
  • It has a side burner and side table.
  • Large capacity cooking area.
  • 5-year burner warranty.

What We Didn’t Like

  • Requires assembly.
  • Durability is not the best.

5. Nexgrill Evolution Infrared Plus 2-Burner Propane Gas Grill

Evolution Infrared Plus 2-Burner

Why you’ll love it:

If you have a smaller space, but still want to grill, or if you aren’t cooking for a bunch of people, then you’ll really like the Nexgrill Evolution 2 burner stainless steel grill. This tiny grill is made for small spaces. Its small footprint and fold-down side shelves, will fit on even the smallest apartment patio.

For a small grill, you’ll be surprised at the amount of cooking space and heat power. With a total of 28,000 BTUs and 385 square inches of cooking space, you’ll not have to worry about slow cooking on your grill.

The firebox has two porcelain coated stainless steel grates and a warming rack so you can cook burgers and warm buns all at the same time. The Evolution line from Nexgrills uses infrared technology for radiant heating that results in flavorful, moist, perfectly cooked foods.

What we liked

  • Compact design perfect for small places.
  • It’s foldable side shelves make storage flexible.
  • Retains heat well for even cooking.
  • 8 years of burner warranty.

What we didn’t like

  • It’s not a smooth roller.
  • Tricky ignition flame.

Evolution 5-Burner

Why you’ll love this:

Infrared gas grills are the up and coming technology for outdoor cooking. While the technology has been around for a long time, it’s just becoming a standard feature in gas grills. The Nexgrill Evolution Infrared gas grill is a great place to start if you want to move from standard burners to an infrared burner.

This grill gives you the option for direct heat or infrared heat. With removable heat plates and firebox dividers, you’ll have plenty of control over your cooking environment. This flexibility allows you to cook a variety of foods at the same time.

This grill has 676 square inches of cooking space, which is reasonable, given the 5 burners. Each burner puts out 9,000 BTUs of heat, for a total heat output of 57,000 BTUs over the main cooking area. This grill also features a 12,000 BTU side burner which allows you to grill potatoes, veggies or fish, or even bake or sauté without the heat of the main grill area.

Other nice features of this grill include the battery operated automatic starter. This feature allows you to eliminate the matches and start your grill safer and simpler.

What We Liked

  • A lot of grill for the money.
  • It’s has a range of features.
  • 8-year burner warranty.
  • Infrared plus Technology offers multiple cooking methods.

What We Didn’t Like

  • Thin parts and prone to corrosion.
  • Issues with flare-ups.

Our favorite part of the Nexgrill line? The price. These are good grills, with good features, for a reasonable price that you can’t beat.
